Coldwell Banker® is the oldest and most established residential real estate franchise in North America. It was founded in 1906 after a devastating San Francisco earthquake.
As the city began to rebuild, a young real estate agent named Colbert Coldwell saw the need for honest and knowledgeable real estate practitioners to assist the many citizens that had fallen victim to greedy banks and lenders.
Benjamin Arthur Banker partnered with Coldwell in 1914 to found the company that is now known worldwide for its ingenuity and success in both positive and negative markets.
Always blazing the trail, Coldwell Banker was the first real estate brand to launch a national website, stream listing videos online, leverage social media and iPad applications, and design mobile sites.
And while cutting-edge technology is great, providing outstanding customer service and agent support are our top priorities. Coldwell Banker was recently named #1 for real estate training for Training magazine.
We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings in San Francisco, and continue to be ready to help our customers find their way home.
Our first real estate office opened its doors in 1950 in downtown Birmingham, Michigan. Over the next two decades, the firm expanded to nearly 100 sales professionals and established a solid reputation for honesty, integrity and a diligent work ethic. That same downtown Birmingham location still remains our largest and operates today in a new, modern facility right across the street from our original location.
The firm continued to prospered and grow by adding additional office locations, which now serve the entire South Michigan market. In 2009 the firm became affiliated with Coldwell Banker and at the same time acquired several other Michigan brokers as part of an ambitious growth strategy.
One of the acquired brokers was Hubbell BriarWood, which soon after the partnership became Lansing, Michigan's premier real estate company. Coldwell Banker Hubbell BriarWood now operates 6 offies with over 200 employees who are proud to provide the most extensive real estate services for all of the Greater Lansing Area. The firm also serves the following cities and specialty markets: DeWitt, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Haslett, Holt, Mason, Okemos, Williamston and much more.
Today, Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel in partnership with Hubbell BriarWood operates 19 offices in Southern Michigan with more than 600 employees. Coldwell Banker Hubbell BriarWood continues to attract the best and the brightest by adhering to the ideals upon which the firm was founded more than half a century ago.
