Last week, at the Michigan Association of Realtors state convention, our very own Kim Laforet was recognized with the Realtor Active in Politics Award for the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors (GLAR). Not only is Kim our Director of Career Development at CBHB, but she is also dedicated to serving many different political organizations in our area.
Kim is an active member of the Delta Township Planning Commission, the Delta Township Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Michigan Association of Realtors Public Policy Committee. She has also served on local public policy committees and volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Capital Region.
“I just really feel that it’s important to stay abreast of what’s going on politically as far as it affects our personal property rights,” Kim said. “I want to make sure that those personal property rights are protected, and that there’s not so much overreach by the government–whether it be local, state, or federal–that we lose a lot of our personal property rights, which are so unique to our country.”
The award was a very pleasant surprise for Kim, who did not know she was receiving it until it was announced at the convention. It is not something that cannot be applied for, but something that is given to a person chosen by the GLAR Board of Directors every year. Kim is humbled and honored to receive such an accolade.
Likewise, we are so proud of Kim for her accomplishments and are lucky to have her as a part of our team. Congratulations, Kim!
