Holt, Michigan
Holt is an unincorporated community within Delhi Charter Township in Ingham County Michigan. In 1860, Holt was named in honor of James Joseph Holt. As of the census of 2000 there were 11,315 people. There were 4,502 households and 2,101 families. The median age was 34 years. The median income for a household was $44,382 and the median income for a family was $52,528.
Holt Public School district is comprised of 13 schools, including one year round elementary. Four Holt Schools have been named Michigan Exemplary Schools by the State Board of Education, and Holt High School has been honored as one of the top 100 schools in the country, recognized through the Award of a Presidential Blue Ribbon.
Delhi Township has seven parks with more than 620 acres which include a beachfront swimming area, a sledding hill, tennis courts, softball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, trails and pavilions. Holt has an annual Hometown Festival that takes place in August. Activities include: The Holt Education Foundation Annual Pre-Game Cookout held at Holt High School, Holt High School Varsity football game and an outdoor movie at Veteran’s Memorial Gardens, a 5K race, and a parade. There are also vendor booths, entertainment, kid’s area and other activities during the Holt Hometown Festival.
