Excitement over the East Lansing Art Festival—Be a Part of It!

Tomorrow begins the 54th East Lansing Art Festival in downtown East Lansing and is mid-Michigan's first major art show of the summer season. It is ranked 9th in the nation in Sunshine Artist Magazine's top 100 Fine and Contemporary Art Festivals list. This year there will be over 175 exhibiting artists from 24 states and Canada and brings over 70,000 visitors (who travel an average of 42 miles!) over the course of the weekend.

If you venture across Grand River Ave. to Michigan State University's campus, they will be hosting MSU's 53rd Annual Spring Arts & Crafts Festival at the same time. It is one of the largest arts and crafts shows in the state and includes a broad range of vendors. It's a great way to bring the campus and local community together.

One of our Coldwell Banker Hubbell BriarWood agents from the East Lansing office, Rose Vadnais, has been the East Lansing Art Festival Vice Chair for the past 3 years. She is passionate about art and architecture, and more to the point, as she put it "my background is in art and architecture and I want to spark that passion in the community. I want to be part of providing a vibrant art community here."

Vadnais said she is even more excited for this year's festival since her family is involved. Her brother, "Botala", will be playing the main stage tomorrow afternoon and her sons, ages 5 and 7 who are part of the Lansing break dancing group, "All of the Above Creative", will be demonstrating in the children's area. Her husband, owner of Jorgensen Architecture, is a Bronze Pallet sponsor.
