Military Appreciation Month: Larry VanOstran

March is National Military Appreciation Month, and we wanted to take this time out to thank some of our agents who have served our country.

Larry VanOstran has been a real estate agent with CBHB for 47 years, and is a veteran in more ways than one. Larry was in the Naval Reserve from 1964-1970 and was actively deployed in Vietnam aboard the Nuclear Aircraft Carriers the USS Enterprise and the USS Kitty Hawk from 1965-1966. He was also a part of the Naval Air Troops First Nuclear Task Force in Visual Communications.

Larry has volunteered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars for over 30 years, and is currently a Trustee and part of the Color Guard for our local VFW Post 701 Lansing. He served as the Post Commander from 2006-2007 and has been recognized and honored by Mayor Virg Bernero and the VFW of Washington D.C. for his services to the community.

As a rifle man, Larry plays Taps in the Color Guard and performs weekly honoring our Veterans at their graves, along with at parades and other local events. He was also asked to guard the Vietnam Traveling Wall when it came to the Lansing area.

Additionally, Larry serves on the board for the Ingham County Veteran Affairs Committee. This committee is a resource for Veterans to learn about the medical, income, housing, and other benefits that are available to them that they might not be aware of.

CBHB celebrates our servicemen, past and present, and part of that celebration is honoring amazing people like Larry. Thank you for your service!
