Charlotte, Michigan is located in Eaton County and is in the middle of Eaton Township and Carmel Township. The city is also about 20 miles southwest of Lansing just off of I-69. Charlotte covers 6.5 square miles of land and is home to just over 9,000 residents. The Thornapple River watershed is located in part of northern Charlotte while the Battle Creek River runs through the southern part of the city.
A famous spot that is popular with both locals and visitors is the Murder Mystery Dinner Train, which is operated by the Old Road Railroad in Charlotte. The train provides “a leisurely 2-hour round trip through historic Charlotte and the countryside of east town,” according to their website. Charlotte is also home to eight city parks that are open from May through October. Along with parks, there is a disc golf course, skate park, sled hills, ice skating rink, outdoor dirt track, tennis courts, and a football field located throughout the city. Fitch H. Beach Airport is located in the northeast part of the city, which has two runways and is for public use.
Additionally, Charlotte holds an annual Frontier Days celebration, which is always held the weekend after Labor Day. This festival takes Charlotte back in time to the days of pioneers, cowboys, and life on the wild frontier.
