If you can make it through the mounds of snow, here are some ways to enjoy this cold weather!
Ski The Day Away
According to Michigan.com, Michigan is home to 6,5000 miles of snowmobile trails, 3,000 miles of cross country skiing trails and is ranked the second in the nation for number of skiing areas in the state. Michigan has over 11,000 inland lakes. Drive 40 minutes in any directions, and you'll be sure to find one. Their beauty isn't just made for the summer, bundle up for an afternoon of ice climbing or fishing. Consider checking out your local park for snowhills and ice sculpture competitions.
We recommend checking out the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes this season for breathtaking views. Wrangle the family and grabs some gloves for a day filled with sledding and ice fishing! Check out a list of winter activities the dunes offer here.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
While this isn't exactly a "getaway" searching for the perfect holiday tree can be a fun day-long adventure for you and the family. Michigan is home to some of the best Christmas tree farms in the country. Welcome your guests this holiday season with the best tree you can find! Just make sure to recycle that tree when you're done!
No - we're not talking about visiting the tropics (although that sounds like a good plan, too!) we're talking about Mackinac Island. Head up to Mackinac Straits during the winter season for some awesome scenery. You can also take a plane ride to the Island for an experience you won't forget.
