Fall has arrived, and the best way to kick off the season is to visit your local apple orchards to handpick some produce, drink delicious cider, and indulge in a plethora of cider mill donuts. Though most are a little drive away, nothing beats a fall mid-Michigan day at one of these locations:
Clearview Orchards – Haslett, MI
Through October, you can pick your own apples at Clearview Orchards and grab some other produce like pumpkins, gourds, and squash while you’re there. The freshly picked apple scent and beautiful scenery will make for an exceptional afternoon for anyone.
Granny’s Orchard – Eaton Rapids, MI
This Granny is one you will always want to come visit with her selection of fresh fruits and “finest apple cider.” The beautiful views will draw you in, but the delicious apples will make you stay.
Johnston’s Applewood Farm – Eaton Rapids, MI
The old log cabin on Johnston’s Applewood Farm brings a warm, homey feel to sipping cider and eating apples. Also, the local maple syrup available for sale is something you might not find in many other places besides Johnston’s.
Uncle John’s Cider Mill – St. John’s, MI
Uncle John’s farm has been passed down through five generations of family to get where it is today. With train rides, corn mazes, hay rides, a pumpkin patch, hard cider, and more, you are bound to be entertained.
Wyrick’s Orchard – St. John’s, MI
This quaint orchard in the middle of farmland has been family owned for over 50 years, explaining their dedication and intricacy. Since apples are their main focus, you are sure to get the best of the best in all kinds of varieties.
